As women many of us have issues with ourselves. With our bodies. Body image issues and self love issues. We can be so overly critical of ourselves. And it doesn’t come from out of nowhere – we’ve been judged on our looks often since we were little kids. And so we take on the job ourselves and continue the judgment through our own critical voice.
Very early on many of us learned to look at ourselves from the perspective of somebody else – we learned to self objectify. We became capable of treating our body as a separate entity – as an object needing to be moulded into the prettiest, thinnest, fittest *insert your own word here* shape possible. Only then would we be pleased. Only then would we feel truly lovable.
As a result so many women struggle with their body image. No matter their actual shape, they feel critical towards and unhappy with their bodies. These negative thoughts can become such a loud voice, that we might even refrain from doing things and activities we love, because of how we feel about our bodies.
